Rose Cleveland

This photograph of Rose Cleveland was taken in 1910. Rose Cleveland was the younger sister of President Grover Cleveland. She was a devoted teacher and scholar before moving to the White House to act as first lady during her brothers first term. She served in the role for just over a year, until Cleveland married the young, popular Frances Folsom on June 2, 1886. After their wedding, Rose left the White House and returned to academia. She died of the Spanish flu pandemic of 1918.
